Costcodle is a daily puzzle game inspired by Wordle! Instead of guessing words, you’ll test your "shopping savvy" by trying to guess the prices of real products sold at the wholesale retail chain, Costco.
Each day, the game features a random item—ranging from everyday essentials to massive bulk packs of household goods. You have up to 6 attempts to guess the correct price.
To keep your daily winning streak alive and earn impressive results to share with friends—without spoiling the answer—use these pricing strategies.
Costco is known for selling items in bulk. A box of cereal there will have a completely different price and size compared to what you’d find in a typical supermarket.
Before locking in your first guess, carefully examine the image, weight, volume, and the number of individual units included. Take the estimated price of a single unit—based on what you know—and multiply it by the quantity found in the Costco package.
Every time you enter a price, the system provides clues to help you narrow down the range.
Directional indicators show whether the actual price is higher or lower than your guess.
Your price estimate is way off; you’ll need to make a significant adjustment.
You’re getting warmer! Your guess is within a 25% margin of error, but not quite close enough to win.
Green: Congratulations! Your price falls within the perfect 5% margin, and you’ve completed the round.
In your next tries, don't try random, emotionally charged guesses. If you get a directional arrow, apply the bisection approach (binary search).
Once you are in the “Yellow” zone, cease making huge jumps in your price guesses. Now you should only make modest incremental changes here. Follow the arrows. You have to steer yourself through that 5 % gap.
Do you usually monitor the precise pricing of daily necessities when shopping at a real-world supermarket, or do you fall into the category of people who just add everything they need to their basket without worrying about the cost?
Enjoy your time playing Costcodle—have fun!
