Extendle

Extendle is a hard progression of the word-guessing puzzle genre, abandoning the standard 5-letter constraint. The game, as the name suggests, pushes your thinking and language to the limits, with a progressive difficulty structure.

How to play Extendle

Extendle retains the familiar color-coded feedback mechanism but adds an intense progression element.

Green: The letter is correct and in the right position.

Yellow: The letter is in the target word but in the wrong position.

Gray: The letter does not appear in the target word at all.

You start with a simple 4- or 5-letter word. Upon a correct guess, the board automatically refreshes and adds an extra slot. You must then guess words of 6, 7, and 8 letters. The game ends only when you run out of allowed guesses during any given round.

Your guess count resets whenever you advance to a new word length. However, the pressure mounts exponentially, as 8-to-10-letter words offer tens of thousands of complex combinations.

Strategies to Become a Vocabulary Master

Extendle requires a completely different strategy compared to Wordle, as you must contend with much longer words.

Prefixes & Suffixes

Once the target word exceeds 6 letters, suffixes like -ING, -TION, -MENT, and -ABLE, or prefixes like UN-, RE-, and DIS-, appear frequently. If you find a yellow "I" and "N" at the end of a 7-letter word, try the suffix "-ING" immediately.

Scanner Words

Have perfect opening words ready for each level. Prioritize words containing multiple vowels and common consonants (R, S, T, L, N). Don't overlook repeated letters.

Long keywords often contain double letters. If you get stuck with a few empty slots remaining, try doubling a consonant or vowel that has already been marked green.

Be willing to sacrifice a guess

For 8- or 9-letter words, if you have too many empty slots and no clues, try entering a completely different word just to check if the remaining vowels or consonants on the keyboard appear in the answer.

Have a great time playing Extendle!
