Maxyph

The name Maxyph is an abbreviation of the phrase Maximum Glyph. Maxyph emphasizes creativity and vocabulary above word guessing. You must generate 6 English terms with as many distinct letters as possible.

The game has a very interesting constraint mechanism called "Locked Cells," making the game much more difficult than simply filling in random words.

How to play Maxyph

Each row will have a locked cell. The letter in this locked cell will be inherited from the row above.

In order to get a number, you must use every letter (A through Z) at least once.

The potential highest score is 25 or 26 points, but most talented players can only score 21 or 22 points.

Maxyph Strategies and Tips

Follow these tactics to score above 20 (Master level).

This is the golden rule. Avoid terms with repeated letters.

Avoid saving hard-to-use letters like J, K, Q, V, X, and Z until last. Letters will be hard to fit in the last rows when locked cells overlap.

Try to use words containing J, Q, and X in the first 1-2 rows when you still have a lot of freedom of choice.

Have fun playing Maxyph!
