Metalloidle

If you love word puzzles but are looking for a fresh, science-themed twist, Metalloidle is the game for you. It takes inspiration from the global phenomenon Wordle but gives it a chemistry-inspired makeover.

How to play Metalloidle

Metalloidle retains the streamlined, addictive gameplay characteristic of word-guessing games.

You have up to six attempts to correctly guess an element—typically a metalloid or another element from the periodic table.

After each guess, the tiles change color to indicate how close you are:

Green: The attribute is completely correct and in the right position.

Yellow: The letter exists in the element's name but is in the wrong position.

Gray/Black: The letter does not appear in the day's target word at all.

Winning: You win Metalloidle by identifying the correct element before running out of your six attempts.

Best tips and tricks to master the game

Begin with things that have lots of vowels and common consonants in them. This allows you to rapidly pick out crucial letters.

If the game provides clues about the era or organization, use the process of elimination to reduce the options rather than guessing letters at random.

The name of the game suggests that metalloids—Boron, Silicon, Germanium, Arsenic, Antimony, Tellurium—will probably feature frequently as answers. Remember their name sizes.

To make the most of your six limited tries, do not use the same letters highlighted grey in previous turns.

Have fun playing Metalloidle!
